Things to do while in Coral Pink Sand Dunes
Moqui Sand Caves
Located just outside of Kanab, Moqui Sand Caves are a quick but memorable stop. These man-made caves were originally carved into the sandstone decades ago, creating a series of hollowed-out chambers that are easy to explore. A short, sandy hike leads you up to the caves, where you can walk inside, climb around, and take in views of the surrounding desert. It’s a popular photo spot, especially in the late afternoon when the light filters into the openings.
Red Canyon Slot (Peekaboo Kanab)
Peekaboo Slot Canyon—often called Red Canyon—is one of the most accessible slot canyons in the area. Unlike more technical hikes, this one is short and relatively easy, with wide, sculpted sandstone walls and soft sand underfoot. You can hike it on your own if you have the right vehicle to reach the trailhead, or book a guided tour from Kanab. The shapes and colors here make it a standout stop, even compared to other slot canyons in Southern Utah.
Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Just north of Kanab, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is the largest no-kill animal sanctuary in the country. Set within a red rock canyon, it’s home to dogs, cats, horses, birds, and more. Visitors can take guided tours, volunteer for a few hours, or simply stop by to walk a dog. It’s a different pace from the surrounding outdoor activities, but a meaningful and memorable addition to your trip.
After a day exploring the dunes and nearby attractions, head back to Range RV Park to rest your head.
